About Us

Our Story
Hanzely's Garden Center has been family owned since 1989.

1989
Henry Hanzely Founded Hanzely's Nursery and Garden Center
Originally established as Hanzely's Nursery and Garden Center in 1989 by Henry Hanzely and his two sons, Don and John. Running a family business was a familiar way of life for the Hanzely's. However, when business for a once thriving mink farm turned a corner for the worst in the late 80's, they were faced with an extremely difficult decision. With no time for hesitation, they immediately transitioned from mink farming to flower production. Mink sheds soon became greenhouses and feed mixers soon became dirt mixers. With hard work, dedication and prayer, they found success in the flower business.

1999
In 1999, after a wonderful 10 years of growth, the team decided to go their separate ways. Don took the reins of the retail business, while John started a wholesale venture called Hanzely's Greenhouse (Now open in St. Mary's since 2017). Henry happily retired to enjoy his private garden. While Henry and Rita Hanzely are no longer with us, their legacy and the love they shared continue to thrive in their family's heart.

2017

Tom and Stacy Hanzely are excited and looking forward to continuing growing the Hanzely way with our community while providing quality plants, perennials, trees, shrubs, and houseplants.
